Maximum Internet Speeds for Devices on Fiber Internet
To get the fastest possible internet speeds, your devices need to have a wired Ethernet connection. To learn more, click here.
A device’s maximum possible internet speeds on either a wired or a Wi-Fi connection depends greatly on the model’s age and the type of connection it uses. Other factors that affect internet speeds include the use of a Virtual Private Network (VPN), the type of data that’s being retrieved, and traffic to websites. Click here to learn more.
This page details the maximum possible speeds for a variety of devices using MEC’s Gig or Multigig fiber internet packages.

Computers (using Ethernet)
The following information assumes your computer is capable of gigabit speeds and has an Ethernet connector.
Most computers made after 2009 are capable of gigabit speeds or higher. Recent laptops will likely need a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor (learn more here). If your computer requires a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor, it must be capable of USB 3.0 (most computers made after 2013 are).
