MEC CEO Bob Earns National Recognition

Since 2013, Bob has been a tireless champion for rural broadband, racking up airline miles flying all over the country and advocating for funding and support. He’s met with politicians, the FCC, Utilities Technology Council (UTC), NRECA, USDA, other co-ops, and the list goes on.

His quest hasn’t been an easy one. Some people didn’t want to hear what he had to say. Some were concerned that they would lose the financial support they enjoyed for years. Some simply couldn’t see the value or understand why electric co-ops should provide broadband. But he didn’t give up. Why? Because where some see risk, Bob sees opportunity. He knew the challenges would be worth it.

These efforts haven’t gone unnoticed and last week, Bob was recognized in front of ISPs from across the nation for his work. At the U.S. Broadband Summit, Bob won the Impact Award – Greatest Technical Achievement in Connecting the Unconnected.
